Group Facilitation Training

We offer group training sessions that incorporate a variety of facilitation methods, including the foundational Technology of Participation (ToP™), developed by the Institute of Cultural Affairs.

The core elements of this method include:

  • Establishing a step-by-step plan for achieving goals ranging from six months to 5 – 10 years in duration, with an analysis of the group’s capacity and roles and responsibilities
  • Encouraging focused conversation with depth and incorporating varying perspectives
  • Running a consensus workshop - a time saving planning process that helps gather ideas in a short period of time
  • Recognising and honouring the contributions of everyone
  • Letting a group deal with more data in less time
  • Pooling individual contributions into larger, more informative patterns
  • Welcoming diversity while minimising polarisation and conflict

Short Capacity Building Courses for small organizations

We provide a series of capacity building courses aimed primarily at small organisations, such as cooperatives, NGOs and various community-based organisations.  Government organisations wishing to improve relationships with stakeholders will also find this course useful.

Each course lasts one to three days in duration, and can be delivered separately or in various combinations to meet your organisation’s needs. They can be tailored to suit individuals with a variety of educational backgrounds, but certainly require no more than a secondary school education to fully participate.

Methods of instruction will include a lecture, discussion and small group work. A course evaluation and Certificate of Participation will be provided after each course’s completion.
